Davidson, NC ยท SafeExchange
Every TownYard exchange happens at a verified SafeSpot in Davidson โ a real, monitored public location. This guide covers how to prepare, what to do at the spot, and how to protect yourself if something feels off.
Every TownYard exchange is locked to a specific verified SafeSpot. Double-check the address in your Exchange Tracker before you leave home โ don't rely on memory.
Your exchange window is time-boxed. If you're running late, send a message in-app. A no-show marks the window as expired and the other party is notified automatically.
Before leaving, add a Safety Companion in the Exchange Tracker โ a friend or family member who gets a heads-up that you're doing an exchange. If you don't check in within the window, they're alerted. It takes 30 seconds and adds real peace of mind.
You'll need the app at the SafeSpot to mark arrival and confirm the exchange. A dead phone means you can't complete the flow โ and can delay the other party.
Davidson Police Department, the Library, Summit Coffee โ all of these are monitored or staffed. Park close, stay in a visible area, and don't move the exchange to a side street or parking garage.
As soon as you get to the SafeSpot, tap "I'm Here" in the Exchange Tracker. This starts the mutual arrival clock and lets the other party know you've shown up.
Once both parties are there, take your time. Check the item matches the listing photos and description. Ask any questions. You confirm the exchange โ there's no automatic timer forcing you.
The exchange isn't finished until both buyer and seller tap "Confirm" in the app. Don't hand over the item until you're ready to confirm. Don't leave until both sides are done.
TownYard never asks you to wire funds, send gift cards, or pay through Venmo, Zelle, or Cash App before the exchange. Any message asking you to do this is a scam โ report it immediately.
Cash exchanges at a SafeSpot are normal and safe. Count the money together in view of others. Neither party should feel rushed.
Once both parties confirm, TownYard logs a timestamped record of the exchange โ who, what, where, and when. This protects both sides if a dispute arises later.
If the other party says or does something that makes you uncomfortable, you're allowed to leave. You don't owe anyone an explanation. Safety comes first โ no item or sale is worth more than that.
Use the "Flag Exchange" option in the Exchange Tracker at any time. TownYard reviews all flagged exchanges, and repeat bad actors are removed from the platform.
Davidson Police Department is a SafeSpot for a reason. If an exchange gets threatening or dangerous, call 911 immediately. Never hesitate on this.
A SafeSpot is a verified, public location in Davidson that TownYard has approved for exchanges. All five current SafeSpots โ Davidson Police Department, Davidson Public Library, Summit Coffee, Davidson Town Hall, and Davidson Village Square โ are monitored or staffed during business hours.
Yes. TownYard's exchange system is built around SafeSpots. Sellers select available windows tied to a SafeSpot when they list an item, and buyers choose from those windows. Exchanges that happen outside of the system aren't protected by TownYard's records.
The Dead Man's Switch is a countdown timer inside the Exchange Tracker. If neither party has progressed the exchange within a set window, the system notifies your Safety Companion and flags the exchange for review. It's a passive safety net โ you don't have to think about it.
Don't confirm the exchange. You're not required to complete it if the item doesn't match the listing. Walk away, and then flag the listing in the app. Listings that are repeatedly flagged for misrepresentation are removed.
Absolutely โ and we encourage it, especially for higher-value items. There's no rule against bringing a friend, partner, or family member. Two sets of eyes at an exchange is always smarter than one.
Browse what your neighbors are selling, or list something of your own. Every exchange is backed by a verified SafeSpot.
